Auto brakes system is the one that put the car into stop. It can either be a disc brake or a drum brake. Usually, the car front brake uses a disc brake and the rear uses drum. The brake operates when the brake pedal is depressed. The force from your foot is transmitted by means of brake fluid into your car brake which in turn transmit to tired by means of the friction thus makes your car to stop.

Same as with other car parts, brakes system can encounters problem which can be notice by the driver. Below are some of the problems that you may encounter that is related to your auto brakes.

Auto Brakes Partly Engaged After Pedal is Released

There are two possible cause of this kind of problem and to determine what causing it is to do the auto diagnose.

1) Inspect your car brake pedal. Check all around the pedal if there is anything that is restricting the brake pedal to move normally.

2) Try to depress the brake pedal and observed if it moves freely without any resistance from the initial travel of approximately 1 to 2 inches then it will start to have resistance as the brake is engaging.

Auto Brakes Produced Grinding Noise

Grinding sound coming from your car brakes during car brake application means a metal is rubbing against your car brake disc or drum, this grinding sound is an indication that your car brakes lining are already worn out, this will happen if you been neglected your car brake maintenance too long.

Auto Brakes Produced Squealing Noise

The other reason of squealing noise is that, your car brake pads is vibrating at a very high frequency and is not easy to detect, you need to remove your car tire to better check your car brakes assembly where the squealing occur and check for looseness on either your car brakes pad or car brake caliper, better to check also your disc for deep grooves which resulted from contact of car brake pads and disc that produce squealing. You can also check your car brakes hardware for looseness of anti-squeal shims and anti-rattle springs. Sometimes squealing can cause by glazed pads and non-factory brake pads.

Brake Dragging When Pedal is Released

A car disc brake has a caliper in which it squeezes your car brake pads into your car brake disc. In order for the caliper to work properly, it should move freely on the support bracket, one cause if the caliper cannot move freely is when the support bracket is become corroded, it can cause the brake caliper to become stuck when your car brake pedal is released thus it will cause dragging in your front car brakes.
